Year 6 - Seahawks (Mr Girdlestone, Mrs Milligan and Mr Gill)

Year 6 is a very important year for us and we have been working incredibly hard to prepare ourselves for our SATS and to ensure that we are ready for Secondary School!

We are also enjoying our topic on space and have started to care for an Ant Farm like they do on the International Space Station. Our Queen (named "Gary") has been seen laying her eggs and looking after her babies!

We are also looking forward to our residential trip at Danbury (18th-22nd June) and sailing at Brightlingsea with "Buoyed Up", a scheme run through the Thomas Lipton Foundation.

Early Morning Boosters

School is open at 8am for any member of Year 6 who can make it to Early Morning Boosters! We use a range of materials to help us prepare for the Reading paper and we provide breakfast too!

Saturday School

We have been running a Saturday School since October which concentrates on arithmetic. Saturday School runs from 9am to 11am each Saturday with Mr Girdlestone.

We are now concentrating on writing- have a look at Jimmy's poem!

We are very lucky to be a PiXL school. This process allows us to track pupils' progress and attainment.

Easter School

This year, we ran a successful Easter School which ran for 3 days each week. We were very fortunate to have help from Clacton's Into University who delivered sessions on test technique.

Zap The SATS!

To help you prepare for SATS week, there are some simple things that you can do to ensure that you are at your best!

  • Get to bed early and ensure you have plenty of sleep
  • Eat a breakfast that will provide you with slow-release energy. Porride is ideal!
  • Drink plenty of water throughout the paper
  • Only revise for 15-20 minutes the night before each paper
  • Make sure you arrive at school on time and are not in a rush. You could join us at Early Morning Booster for breakfast!
